Gujarat gets 8,000 new engineering seats
Keeping an eye on 2014 elections, Narendra Modi is out to woo the youth of the nation.
According to the Gujarat CM’s website, about 8,000 seats have been added to engineering streams like civil, automobile and mechanical, which will be available in self-financed colleges from academic year 2013.
With this, the total count of seats has gone up to 68,731 in engineering and pharmacy courses. The seats have been approved by the AICTE.
The move will benefit several students aiming for an engineering seat, especially now that the Gujarat Board announced that students only need aggregate 133 marks out of 400 to pass the board exams. Moreover, they need not pass each and every semester exam.
Last year, over 8,000 seats were vacant in less preferred branches as the rush of applications went up in branches like civil, mechanical and automobile engineering.
