IIT-B introduces new course in semiconductors
The Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-B) in association with Nasdaq listed Applied Materials Inc will been launching the country's first certification course in semiconductor technology and manufacturing. Applied Materials Inc is a global player in providing manufacturing equipment, services and automation software to the semiconductor industry.
Acknowledging the shortage of trained and high-tech workforce in India, the course would aim to bridge the shortage of such skilled manpower and India's growing demand for electronic devices.
About the program:
First-of-its-kind in India, The Semiconductor Technology and Manufacturing Certification Course will offer students an understanding of semiconductor technologies, processes and the basic concepts of microelectronics manufacturing, blended together with hands-on training on some of the semiconductor industry’s most widely-used process equipment from Applied Materials.
Faculty members from IIT-B and experts from Applied Materials will participate in training students.
- Course duration: 7 days
- Course commencement: Mid-November(November 19 to 25)
- Intake: Twice a year
- Course content: Semiconductor technology, including very large-scale integration (VLSI), semiconductor equipment overview and lab equipment user training
- Last date for applications: October 19, 2012
Upon the successful completion of the course, students will be awarded a Continued Education Programme (CEP) certificate by IIT-B.
