IIT-B Virtual Stock Market goes live

The students of IIT-B entrepreneurship cell can hardly wait as Virtual Stock Market kicks off from today. Nationwide students can now sign up, irrespective of their education streams. The winners for the first time will be awarded with prizes worth Rs.1 Lakh.
According to sources this idea was always a hit in the campus but the current step of going national is a huge step. The servers have been made strong so that the traffic from all over the nation can be handled smoothly.
The main aim behind this creation is a friendly competition that will enable the students to learn the basic concepts, break psychological barriers and think out of the box. It is a real time simulation providing the users or students with the knowledge of market functioning and technicalities without any monetary loss.
The cell will also conduct workshops under professional guidance for providing a better understanding of stock markets in various Mumbai institutes. The sources also confirmed that though this is a step for students with hands on experience to comprehend the market and its tactics. The workshop will be conducted for those who are oblivious but are keen to understand the concepts while playing. The workshop will be held from January 23-25, 2012, between 9-10 pm without any registration fee.
Meanwhile IIT-B has been busy finding a new food contractor, after the shocking incident of food poisoning of 500 students three months back. The institute unable to find the cause of the incident worked on finding attractive eating options inside the campus. The new food joint seems to be good with descent options and has received positive reviews from the students and wardens till now. The campus will also see some upcoming commercial food joints such as a new canteen, a revamped dhaba and new ice cream or juice center.
