IIT Deferred Placement: A great option, gives security net to students to follow their passion
A final year mechanical engineering student of Indian institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, Vaibhav Antil tries to acquaint others with the concept of deferred placement. One of the few lucky ones who have been granted deferred placement this year, Vaibhav is all praise for the concept which he feels gives students a chance to pursue their passion.
In a podcast, Vaibhav shares that he consulted many seniors from his college who tried their hands at entrepreneurship right after college and he feels that anyone who wants to apply for deferral should think it through and consult as many people as possible before taking the leap of faith.
IIT Bombay started this initiative to offer deferrals to students last year onwards and Vaibhav is from the second batch which has been given the option to apply for deferrals.
Vaibhav also elaborated on his maiden venture called BC Jukebox wherein he is working to bridge the gap between the music that customers want to hear as against what is mostly played at businesses like pubs, bars and restaurants. With BC Jukebox, customers can select what songs they want played (from a library of lakhs of songs) at the venue using a mobile application.
To know more about Vaibhav’s venture along with finding out more information related to the process of applying for deferred placement to what options students have if they do not make a success of their venture, listen to this podcast.
