JEE Advanced 2013 opening & closing ranks for IITs: Electrical Engineering specialisations

Shiksha.com has compiled a list of opening as well as closing ranks at various IITs for different specialisations in electrical engineering discipline such as microelectronics, power & automation, electrical communication etc.

There are various fields electrical engineering can be related to, like electrical engineering in power and automation, in power electronics, in microelectronics, with electronics and communications. By simply reading the names of these fields you may feel that they are similar. However, this is far from the truth.

Electrical engineering in microelectronics is a different discipline as it focuses on only the study of small or micro parts. On the other hand electrical engineering in power and automation focuses on the conversion and transfer of electricity or power. Another field called electrical (power electronics) engineering studies the solid state conversion of electricity.

Electronics and electrical communication engineering and electronics and electrical engineering are different from one other because in the former communication is the specialization that is studied in detail while in the later each aspect is studied in a much broader way.
