The most prestigious engineering entrance exam in India, JEE Advanced (previously known as IIT-JEE) has been conducted on 25th May 2014 with paper 1 from 9am – 12pm and paper 2 from 2pm to 5pm, across the nation.

Paper-1 had total 60 questions; 20 in each subject, out of which 10 questions were of multiple correct option type and remaining 10 questions, were of numeric response type with having NO NEGATIVE marking. It is clearly visible that, this paper had 50% multiple option correct type questions and because of this, it would be difficult to score marks in this paper.

Paper-2 had total 60 questions; 20 in each subject, out of which 10 questions were of multiple correct option type and 6 questions were based on paragraph and 4 questions were based on column matching pattern having NEGATIVE marking -1 for each incorrect option.

Overall Subject-wise Analysis:

Physics:

Paper-1: Physics Paper was lengthy and few multiple choice questions were of good level but numerical response portion was a cake walk.

Paper-2: This paper was also lengthy and had more calculation based questions but overall it was an average paper.

Chemistry:

Paper-1: This paper was slightly difficult or can be called as above average. If compared to last year's paper, examiner had put same difficulty level this year too so a student who had analysed previous year's paper  and worked accordingly could do better in Chemistry paper-1.

Paper-2: This was an above average paper, but using options, students can secure more marks which was little tedious in paper-1. Questions asked from Organic Chemistry were more complex than Physical & Inorganic portions.

Mathematics:

Paper-1: Overall the paper was good. Though the questions were very difficult but the mixing of various concepts and packaging of various profile problems made the paper challenging for the students.

Paper-2: This was a lengthy paper. About 10 questions were very challenging, that’s why paper may be rated “Above Average”.
