JEE Main 2015 Topper: 16-year-old Pranay Agarwal makes the cut
JEE Main 2015 Topper - Clearing JEE Main 2015 with an overall score of 341 was a cakewalk for Jaipur based Pranay Agarwal. A student of Cambridge Court High School, Jaipur, Agarwal managed to crack the exam at the age of 16 and is probably the youngest topper for JEE Main 2015.
A die-hard fan of cricket and football, this young lad is quite shy to speak to and prefers keeping away from all the media attention. However, commenting on his victory, he said, “By regularly appearing for tests conducted at my coaching institute – Allen - throughout the year, I did not find the JEE Main Paper too difficult. Apart from studying, I used to play cricket in the evening daily for 1 hour to keep me refreshed I now aim for a good rank in JEE Advanced so that I can get into IIT Mumbai”.
In a candid chat with shiksha.com, Pranay shares his preparation strategy and future plans.
Q.How does it feel being one of the JEE Main 2015 toppers with a score of 341?
It feels good to find myself among toppers but this is just half way to the journey for final exam of JEE advance.
Q. Did you expect to secure this score?
I expected the score around 340 but wasn’t sure about overall national rank in the exam.
Q. So, how did you plan your preparation?
I tried to maintain consistency in studies by giving equal weightage to all 3 subjects -Physics, Chemistry & Maths. Regular studies at school and home helped me to clear subject fundamentals.
Q.How are you planning your preparation for JEE Advanced 2015?
I am attempting mock tests for JEE advanced beside the old papers of JEE.
Q. What was your overall score? What study plan did you follow for this exam?
My total score in JEE - Main is 341. The subject wise break-up is: Physics-115, Chemistry- 116, Maths -110.
Q. Which is your dream institute? And which stream do you plan to opt?
I wish to further study at IIT Bombay and my preferred choice is Computer Science & Engineering.
Q. Success Tips for students taking JEE Main 2016?
I think regular studies and stay focused are two important aspects for success.
Tell us about your family background?
My Father is an engineer and works as ‘Vice President’ in a software company at Jaipur. My Mother is a Ph.D. and currently a house wife.
