KEAM 2014: Quotas, categories & reservations

Kerala Engineering, Architecture and Medical Entrance Exam 2014 (KEAM 2014), is conducted to offer admissions to candidates in engineering and medical courses. Courses offered through KEAM 2014 are MBBS, BDS, BHMS, BAMS, BSMS, BSc. (Hons.) Agriculture, BSc. (Hons.) Forestry, BVSc. & AH, BFSc. and B.Tech.

KEAM 2014 was conducted on April 21 and 22 for admissions into engineering courses and on April 23, 2014 for medical courses.

As listed out by the Office of the Commissioner for Entrance Examination, Government of Kerala, there are many reservation categories in the state and aspirants from these categories can avail the same to their benefit to get admissions into an institute through KEAM 2014.

KEAM 2014: Reservation of Seats

Out of the total seats available for admissions to the various courses through KEAM 2014, some seats will be reserved for different categories as mentioned below:

All India Quota for MBBS/BDS Courses

Around 15% of the total sanctioned seats in MBBS/BDS Courses in Govt. Medical/Dental Colleges in the State are set apart for the allotment of the candidates by the Director General of Health Services, Government of India.

Persons with Disabilities

Around 3% of the seats available to the state for allotment from the entrance rank lists, for all the courses in all the Government and aided colleges are reserved for the candidates with disabilities.

Special Reservation

These are the seats reserved for certain specific categories, for different courses. As per this reservation, candidates who have scored 50% marks in the medical entrance examination for paper-I and paper-II put together with applicable relaxation for SC/ST/SEBC/ PD categories (as per directives of MCI) and satisfying eligibility condition will be considered for admission to MBBS/BDS courses.

Mandatory Reservation

Leaving the seats aside for All India Quota, Government of India Nominees, Special reservations, Persons with Disabilities and Management Quota, the remaining Government seats for each course in Govt./Aided/KAU/KVASU/KUFOS Colleges will be distributed as per the mandatory reservation principle.
