Life at IIT Delhi: Competitive environment compels you to do your best, says Anagh Prasad, JEE Main 2013 topper
“I am loving my college life at this moment and having a blast here. It couldn’t have been better and I don’t think I am missing out on anything,” says Anagh Prasad, in a candid chat with shiksha.com about life at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi.
This JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) Main 2013 topper, who is currently pursuing a dual degree B.Tech-M.Tech course at IIT Delhi believes that the best part about the institute is its location. It’s situated in the heart of the city in South Delhi and near one of the most happening places (Hauz Khas).
Talking about his life at the campus, Anagh says, “ I did not expect life to be like this at the institute. Basically, I did not predict anything and that’s why everything is new to me and till date it has been a great experience”.
He feels that the one most prominent things any student who enters the campus would notice is the competitive atmosphere! Everyone has high aims and students are quite serious about their respective careers. The environment ultimately compels you to compete and do well in your studies.
However, there is one thing Anagh would really want to change about his institute and that’s the “follow the herd attitude of students”. He says, “ I do not like this attitude of students with regard to opting for courses at this institute. Like students here religiously believe that Computer Science is the best and one should go for it if one acquires the required rank. I don’t think students choose this branch because they are interested in it or are passionate about the branch but because their peers are going for it. I think, this issue prevails across all the IITs now”.
