LOral India Announces For Young Women in Science Scholarships 2010
New Delhi, June 23 - Call for science scholarship applications
L'Oréal India has announced, for the eighth consecutive year, the ‘For Young Women in Science Scholarships 2010'. L'Oréal India will award scholarships to five deserving students from the State of Maharashtra. Each scholarship consists of an amount of Rs 2.5 lakh, granted over a period of four years of study in a scientific field in a recognized college or university in India.
Eligibility criteria: Young women who have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exam from Maharashtra in the current
academic year (ended March 2010), with a minimum of 85 per cent in PCM/PCB, and not over 19 years of age as on May 31, 2010, are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
Procedure: Forms for the scholarships can be downloaded from www.foryoungwomeninscience.com or can be collected from L'Oréal India Pvt. Ltd., Peninsula Towers, Second floor, GK Marg, Lower Parel, Mumbai. Forms need to be submitted along with the relevant documents (mentioned in the application form) not later than June 30, 2010 at the address mentioned above.
First vice dean of Jindal Global Business School
OP Jindal Global University announced the appointment of Dr Michael Barnes as a professor and the first vice dean of Jindal Global Business School (JGBS). Till recently, Dr Barnes was the Dean of the Global MBA programme at SP Jain Centre of Management - conducted jointly at campuses in Dubai and Singapore.
JGBS will offer multi-disciplinary global business education to foster academic excellence, industry partnerships and global collaborations. JGBS will conduct research, offer global programmes and host international conferences and workshops on issues that affect the corporate world and beyond. JGBS will commence its first academic session in September 2010 with a two year MBA programme.

ShOObh Arts Competition, in association with Lalit Kala Academy, recently announced the call for entries to the art competition ‘My Dream Sport' to commemorate the landmark event of India - Common- wealth Games 2010. Bonafide Students aged between 5 - 17 years can showcase their artistic skills. Entries must be submitted by August 15, 2010.
Entries may be collected from the shOObh Collection Centres (States) and further send to shOObh Collection Centers (Delhi) by August 15, 2010. The students will be grouped into different categories according to the age groups. Winners of the art competition will be announced on September 5, 2010. Works of Grade-A entries in the competition will see their work displayed at prominent Indian art galleries and also be featured in the Indian art magazine that will be exhibited at over 14 locations across India.
Pre-departure orientation for US-bound students
The United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF) is going to organise a pre-departure orientation programme for successful student visa candidates travelling to the US in Fall 2010, in New Delhi on July 9. The full day programme is scheduled to take place at the American Center, 24, Kasturba Gandhi Marg.
