Maitreyi College offers PGD in nanotechnology for men, too
The women-only Maitreyi College, affiliated to Delhi University, is starting a PG diploma programme in nanotechnology, for men too. Though
the university currently offers an MTech programme in nanotechnology, this one-year diploma will help students who couldn’t make it to the Master’s programme and also those who want to complete 16 years of education after BSc so as to be eligible for a Master’s degree in a foreign university, particularly in the United States.
The eligibility criterion for this full-time-diploma course is a Bachelor’s degree in science with physics and/or chemistry, BSc zoology/ electronics/ life sciences and others with at least 50 per cent marks. There are 30 seats, of which 50 per cent are reserved for female students. An aptitude test is slated for June 30. The course is due to begin on July 21.
“With mobile phone technology becoming smaller and extremely popular, everything is getting miniaturised. It stands testimony to the tremendous opportunities in nanotechnology, both in research and industry,” says Dr Ramesh Kumari, deputy coordinator and an associate professor at Maitreyi College. The course fee is Rs 10,000. For more, visit maitreyi.du.ac.in.
