Some Indian and foreign shipping companies recruit cadets directly after Class 12 and train them

I am a Class 11 commerce student. Is it possible for me to join the merchant navy as a deck cadet? If yes, then please tell me how to go about it?

-Rajat Verma

Commerce students cannot join the merchant navy as you require PCM in Class 12 for this field. Other than B Tech in marine engineering, and BSc in nautical science, there is another route to join the merchant navy as a deck cadet. However, even this requires you to have science subjects. Some Indian and foreign shipping companies recruit cadets directly after Class 12 and train them, and also enable them to qualify for the competency certificate required by the Ministry of Surface Transport. This is because the work on a ship is highly technical and requires knowledge of the working of a ship, navigation principles, and weather conditions etc. As you are a commerce student, you can consider a career in the defence services, particularly the army.

Please tell me about the colleges/universities that offer PG in biotech or pharmacy to dental graduates.

Some prominent institutions that offer MSc in biotechnology include: Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi; Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi; Jadavpur University, Calcutta; Anna University, Chennai; Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar; Benaras Hindu University, Varanasi; and GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pant Nagar (UP). Admission to the MSc (biotechnology and MTech (biotechnology) is through the Combined Biotechnology Entrance Examination conducted by JNU on behalf of around 30 participating institutes. Please check the JNU website for more details www.jnu.ac.in.
