More than 1000 students placed at IIT-Kharagpur

Setting a record amongst all IITs(Indian Institute of Technology), IIT Kharagpur, in its recently conducted first phase of placements, had over thousand of its students securing lucrative job offers.

According to IIT officals, the institute has a set a record with an impressive number of students acquiring jobs in the history of IITs.

Some of the companies who visited the campus this year include the likes of Microsoft, Google, Shell, , ITC, Schlumberger, Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, Credit Suisse, Oracle, Abbott and EXL, along with start-ups like Housing.com and Flipkart.

USD 1.25 lakh (approx Rs. 77 lakh) was the highest international package offered by a US-based company to one the students at the institute. However, Rs. 37 lakh, was the highest domestic package offered.

Financial Engineering and Engineering Entrepreneurship, new dual degree progammes introduced by IIT were the ones which saw 85% of its students geting placed this year.This year, 195 companies visited the campus for placements.

Other IITs also massive placements this year with 900 offers at IIT Mumbai, 750 at IIT Kanpur and around 700 offers at IIT Kanpur.
