Mystory@Abhi Shah: How I selected my college and course
I was always good at Maths and loved Derivation, so I was sure I would opt for Science in Class 11 and 12. We had entrance exams like GUJCET and AIEEE for admission to colleges. I wanted to take admission in a good college based on my merit. But my merit was bound to fall down because state board had a bit different syllabus.
However, I got admission in Faculty of Engineering Technology and Research, Bardoli, Surat. If I hadn’t got admission in this college, I would have opted for Mass Media or Hotel Management.
To attend my classes, I stayed as a paying guest in Bardoli. Our classes were held from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm. Attendance was very important. If we missed classes, the authorities would call up our parents. I found subjects based on manufacturing and communication very interesting. I used to participate in a lot of extra-curricular activities like robo war, robo race, poster making competition, paper presentations, etc. I bunked classes when bored and would try to watch at least one movie in a week.
I was always was certain of becoming an engineer but my handwriting was bad so I would doubted that I have failed in the exams but would pass.
