Mystory@Amisha: How I chose my course and career path
I was always interested in reading literature but ended up choosing Science stream after my Class X results. Mom-dad felt I would do much better in Science and should go for PCM, and so I did the same. But choosing Science was not a bad idea at all. In fact, it turned out to be interesting and fun!
My class XIth was entirely a different experience as new subjects led to a whole new world. It was hard to cope up at first but then classes (or should I say friends) started to add more colours to life. Class XII turned out to be bit more ambitious, though the fun did not stop. Friendships started to go deep and ambitions started to go high! As the days for the final exam and entrance test came closer, real tension and burden of studies started to build. And the stress buster during those hardships was only and only family, because at the end of the day each friend was also your tough competitor.
Self-motivation and self-confidence are both required to get through that phase. All you have to do is stay focused and never lose hope. Relaxing yourself with music or some kind of sport also solves the purpose. And after all those hardships, giving all the competition a tough fight, I finally ended up getting admission in NIT Jalandhar. And this was all because of my family’s support and their faith in me. Each bit of the motivation matters.
How I cracked BTech admission at NIT
I took coaching for two years during my XI-XII. Both entrance exam coaching and school studies were equally important. I took coaching for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Life at tuitions was also a memorable phase. I never aimed to achieve high but always tried to give my best shot and gain something from whatever I studied. I went to school in the morning and then directly to the coaching institute. It was always a hectic schedule but friends made it worth living. We used to enjoy and study together. And I was always particular about my classes and the stuff the teachers asked to read up. Things that earlier seemed impossible became easy with a little practice. But yes, the start always felt like it was never my cup of tea. Parents, teachers and friends play a very important role during that time. I always tried to study for as much time as I possibly could.
The time given to studies should always be fruitful and never regretted. Each second of that time is crucial, it was for me for sure. When I saw my parents expecting a good result from me, my ambition to do something and earn a name never allowed me to waste a single moment. I applied for PEC Institute of Technology-Punjab, (UICET) University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology and TU etc, but NIT Jalandhar was the best out of all. My dad always used to say, "It's not about Physics, Chemistry or Maths, it's always about confidence," and he has never been wrong, no matter what! So, the main part of everything was confidence and focus on what I wanted to achieve. And I must say NIT Jalandhar has been worth all the hardships.
What I gained from my college years
College is my love! The time spent here in college will be remembered throughout my life. Friends make it worth living and add memories to your book of life. I prefer spending most of my time with my besties who always turn my grin a bit wider. We study, we play, we gossip and we make a home away from home! Rest of the time, I attend classes regularly and I'm really very particular about my class schedule and don't like skipping classes. I enjoy extracurricular activities like singing, playing musical instruments, and gaming. And photography gives me my little happiness.
The ambience at my college is very positive and I therefore like to spend some of my time with nature. On weekends, I prefer to visit and explore different places along with my friends, or sometimes we also end up in a small get-together. Evening walks around the campus is one more thing that I love. Those deep secret talks sometimes cheer me up and I feel a bit relaxed.
If given a chance I would like to see how much more capable I am. I don’t expect anything much. Life's been amazing so far. I always got what I wanted and what I deserve. The ups and downs have made me more strong and a better person. I don't regret anything so far and I look for more opportunities to improve myself. I always feel like exploring more and make my life and surroundings more interesting.
And college has changed me a lot. I have learnt so so much… about myself, about people and about how to handle different and tough situations with a happy face. I have learnt to be patient and listen to people more carefully and attentively. I have learnt to find happiness in little little things and I've started to forgive more often. Introspection has always helped me throughout. I don’t take people and their feelings for granted anymore, because now I know how it feels when your mom and dad are far away from you. I have started to take things more seriously and yes, I now appreciate my responsibilities much more. Because I know that there's somebody out there who wishes for my successful future and is there from the very beginning to see me touch the skies! I’ll be more helpful, caring and loving than I ever was!
