Find out how becoming a Mechanical Engineering made Syedullah capable of handling different tasks in life.

Mystory@Syedullah

My partner and I have always been interested in paper presentations because they are fun and innovative. Instead of theory, I am very much interested in performing experiments in the labs.

Being a Mechanical Engineer, I want to gain knowledge of engines and power plants. Although my college required us to take up a single project in the last year of the course, I along with my team, undertook multiple projects and presented 10 research papers, which won us many prizes. In one of them, I even secured the third prize at an international level presentation.

My college HOD and faculty members helped me explore new projects and encouraged me to attend symposiums in nearby colleges. Teachers always play a vital role and in the same way, my teachers have helped me achieve success in my life. With the grace of God, I cleared all the subjects and secured first class in the course. Talking about my friends, I have a selected few of them who I think are extremely precious to me. They have also always motivated me to try new things in life.

College education plays an important role in making us capable of handling different tasks in life, which actually is an ever continuing aspect of life. It is up to us how we manage them. Even the knowledge that we gain from the subjects that we study, may be required in future. So, we must preserve all our books.

When we are in school and college, we find Mathematics extremely complicated but the truth is that mathematical concepts like Integration and Differentiation are implemented in various industries like bearing industry, plastic product industry, steel mills, etc. I also believe that these subjects should be reviewed and updated according to modern trends and methods. I remember an instance when I was in my diploma college when we went for an industrial visit in 2005 to a nearby company, which housed old planing machines. Now, I think that colleges should show modern machines to the students instead of redundant ones. The courses I miss studying as part of my education are personality development and technical concepts like GD&T, problem solving techniques, analysis of different materials, comparison study and benchmarking.

Some people are very clear in their goals but a few like me don’t know until they complete their schooling. After school life, I struggled by securing low scores in my tenth grade. Fortunately, I received excellent support from my teachers during my Mechanical Engineering and ended me up loving the subjects I studied in the course.

In my first job, given my tough personality, I got transferred in internal departments from In-Process Inspection to Supplier Material Inspection. This led me to work on new projects and assignments and gave me a chance to travel across India and thus meet new people. I also learnt varied perspectives, multiple cuisines and new systems to manufacture products. So, whenever there is a new opportunity, I welcome it with an open mind and enthusiasm, and this adds great value to my life. Likewise, I have gained much more and by God’s grace, am moving towards a better future in this competitive world.
