NATA 2016 Syllabus and Pattern
Appearing candidates can check the syllabus and exam pattern for NATA 2016 online. National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) is conducted by Council of Architecture, for admissions to 5 years B. Arch Degree course. It is a national level common entrance exam, which candidates take up to seek admissions in various government colleges of architecture across India. NATA 2016 application forms are available on the official website. Applicants can register for the same till August 18, which is the last date to apply for the exam. NATA 2016 is will be conducted in two parts- Phase I & Phase II. While, the Phase I exam will be held between April 1 and May 28, 2016, Phase II test will begin from June 6 and end on August 20, 2016.

Students who are planning to take up the exam can go through the application process for NATA 2016 to understand the registration procedure for a quick and error-free registration. However, to apply for NATA, it’s important that a candidate is class X pass out with a minimum of 50% marks, having Mathematics as main subject. NATA 2016 Syllabus and Pattern
NATA exam will be conducted in two parts- a paper based Drawing Test and a computer based online Aesthetic Sensitivity Test. Both the test will measure aptitude of the candidates, their imagination and observation skills.
1. Drawing Test: This is going to be a two hour paper, where candidates had to attempt three questions. They will be judged on following aspects:
- Ability to sketch a given object and presenting the same in visually appealing manner.
- Visualising and drawing the effects of light on the object and shadows cast on surroundings.
- Sense of drawing
- Joining and combining given three dimensional elements to form a building or structural form.
- Creating two dimensional composition using given shapes and forms in an interesting way.
- Creating visual harmony using colours in given composition.
- Understanding of scale and proportions.
- Drawing from memory through pencil sketch on themes from day to day experiences.
2. Aesthetic Sensitivity Test: This is a computer based aptitude test, completely based on architectural awareness and general knowledge. It measures perception, imagination, observation, creativity of candidates. The test will comprise of following:
- Visualising three dimensional objects from two dimensional drawings.
- Visualising different sides of three dimensional objects.
- Identifying commonly used materials and objects based on their textural qualities.
- Analytical reasoning.
- Mental Ability.
- Imaginative comprehension and expression.
- Architectural awareness.
The second paper will have 40 multiple choice questions (MCQs), which candidates need to finish in one hour. There will be no system of negative marking in NATA 2016. Here’s detailed syllabus for NATA 2016.
Applicants must note that there will be no lateral entry at any year/stage of B. Arch course based on any qualification. Also, NATA score shall not be valid for a period of two years from the year in which a candidate has appeared.

The application fee for NATA test is Rs. 1250, which excludes the processing charges. Appearing candidates can choose online medium to make the payments. NATA exam will be conducted at different locations across India. Candidates can choose their preferred city or center and the same will be allotted to them, subject to availability.
NATA 2016 results are expected to be declared in the month of September i.e. a week later the exam is over.
