"New IITs will dilute the brand"

In its Vision 2020 Leadership Conclave, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi Alumni felt that mushrooming of the new engineering institutes under the ‘IIT' brand name and scrapping of the IIT JEE is diluting the brand name of the earlier IITs.
They emphasised that none of the leading institutes across the world, including the likes of Harvard and Stanford, have added new colleges to an established brand. This can only lead to dilution of the quality of engineering education offered by IITs and the overall brand value of these prestigious institutes. See the details
Alumni were concerned that the changes in the selection process earlier have already adversely affected the quality of intake in IITs and scrapping of IIT JEE will prove to be even more detrimental to the growth of the institutes.
IITDAA has about 35,000 members and chapters across India and abroad. The alumni were also unhappy with the fact about how MHRD had ignored IIT senates. Read more
