Now get a Dual degree from IIT
It’s good news for all you who wish to pursue two degrees simultaneously without consuming much of your time. The Indian Institute of Technology-Indore (IIT-I) is all set to launch a 'dual-degree programme' that would not only help you get a doctorate but will also save at least 18 months in acquiring the degree.
To be launched in the coming academic session, the courses include:
- MTech in Communication & Signal Processing
- MTech in Production & Industrial Engineering
- MSc in Chemistry
- MSc in Physics
These PG Degree courses will comprise two semesters of course work and one semester of thesis work that will overlap with the PhD programme. Therefore, students opting for the dual course, will not have to repeat it.
Initially, the institute has plans for an intake capacity of only 12 seats in each of the four courses. This implies that only 48 students will be able to pursue dual degree in the four specialised subjects. Henceforth, after being selected for M.Tech or M.Sc through GATE score, the student will be given the option of taking the dual-degree programme.
IIT-I will become the first among the new IITs to start the course similar to that offered by its older counterparts in Mumbai and Kanpur.
