Online AIEEE Exam 2011 gets a Lukewarm Response from students!
Only 11.18 lakh students have registered for AIEEE 2011, a significant dip from more than 12 lakh students who took AIEEE 2010 making it the largest entrance test in the world. Not only this, only 4,904 students have registered for the online AIEEE exam which was conducted for the first time this year while more than
11 lakh students opted for the traditional paper-pen based test mode. The Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE) conducting the exam was expecting to get as many as 1 lakh registrations for online AIEEE 2011 in its pilot run and was planning to conduct a complete online examination in a year or two!
AIEEE 2011 is scheduled on May 1, 2011. However, CBSE is not seeing online AIEEE exams as a complete failure. In fact, they are upbeat that they have got registrations from as many as 20 cities and that none of their centers remained vacant on its pilot run. The officials realize that since this is the first time AIEEE is being conducted online, students are more used to the traditional paper-pen-based format and are apprehensive of the shift.
They are hopeful that numbers will gradually increase and are confident that online AIEEE 2011 will be conducted smoothly across all the centers. With CAT CBT (computer-based test) being such a great success, one can expect online AIEEE to be accepted soon by the exam takers. Online AIEEE 2011 will be conducted in 20 cities while traditional paper-based AIEEE will be conducted in 81 cities this year.
