Pay CBSE Rs 500 for JEE script?
Sparking a controversy, the CBSE( Central Board of Secondary Education) transparency offer looks to provide IIT aspirants with photocopy of Optic Magnetic Reader (OMR) sheet, answer key and student’s calculation sheet for those who appeared for the JEE Main 2013 exams, for a charge of Rs 500.
Not only is the decision declared quite late but is also facing strong opposition by parents and independent educationists on the grounds of violation of the Right to Information (RTI) Act that allows citizens to seek documents for an application charge of R10 with an additional charge of Rs 2 per page.
Fundamentally, this transparency offer by the CBSE would typically amount to a total Right to Information Act fee of under Rs 50 and not Rs 500 that is being asked for. However, CBSE chairman told media that the move is on the lines of a similar initiative used for AIEEE last year. CBSE notification states that “those who have already applied under the Right to Information Act (for the OMR sheets and answer keys) or otherwise may apply afresh along with the required fee of Rs 500.”
