Placement at IIT campus witnesses high packages, bulk hiring
The placement season at Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) is flying high. Various reputed firms are offering more than one profiles with high packages.
At IIT Bombay, Samsung hired 14 candidates offering $135,000, excluding performance-based incentives, for its US and Korea offices. Google, on the other hand, recruited 10 candidates – three for California and seven for India. Microsoft hired nine students – five for US office and four for India.
The average salary in management consultancy sector is around Rs 17 lakh. Firms like Deutsche Bank and Goldman Sach hired 10 and 16 students respectively. In consulting sector, Boston Consultancy, Mckinsey and Bain hired maximum candidates at an average gross salary offered is Rs 12.5 lakhs. In oil and gas sector, the average gross salary was Rs 15 lakh.
According to ET, 180 offers were made by the end of the first day at IIT-Bombay.
So far, Oracle has offered the highest package of $211,000 at the Powai campus. The firm offered a similar package at IIT-Madras.
At the Madras campus, Eaton Technologies and Citicorp Services made 10 offers, followed by Intel Technology – six and Nomura Structured Finance Services – five.
At the Kanpur campus, 175 offers from 20 firms has been accepted. About 225 more companies are yet to visit the campus this year. At IIT-Kharagpur, the top recruiters were Google, Goldman Sachs, Credit Suisse, D B Centre, Opera Solutions, Microsoft, IBM, Schlumberger, Shell and SAP. The highest package offered stands at $125,000.
