Ex-IITians are against the pattern change of IIT-JEE as the present pattern helps the institute in choosing nothing but the best..

Previously Kapil Sibal, the Human Resources Development Minister said that that there must be a single Engineering entrance exam for IITs, National Institutes of Technology and private institutions. But the IITians doesn't seem to be happy with it. It is reported that in April this problem will be sorted out since the students must know the decision.

Various recommendations were made by the committees and some of them have been accepted by the IIT council. The T Ramaswami report proposed a single national entrance for all whereas the Chandy committee proposed for a correlation between the school and IIT performance. This proposition was given by the Chandy committee since the school performances were considered better.

While some are blaming the coaching institutes for which the students don't value schooling systems anymore, the others are blaming the IIT-JEE for this shift of focus. Sibal said that the entrance will be called JEE only and Class 12th board exam marks will be given 40% weightage. The Preparatory institutes meanwhile are seeing this as an opportunity for even the students scoring below 95% stand a chance in IITs. They as well as the parents are content with this decision and are concentrating more on the analytical and data interpretation aspects. FIIT-JEE stated that there is unnecessary hype over the IIT pattern change, which is suitable with changing time.

The ex- IITians are however unhappy with this decision for which they have started a facebook group called IITians.org. According to them the present pattern tests the candidates to its best ensuring selection of quality students. They are also against this pattern since it is not tested and is liable to future complications. This group has called up for various protects along with class boycott at the IITS.
