Research Work of IIT Students will soon to be made available Online
A two-day long summit of IIT students called "Inter-IIT Gymkhana Summit 2011" held at IIT-Gandhinagar (IIT-GN) wherein many discussions took place. The summit was attended by student representatives from 10 IITs including IIT Gandhinagar, Guwahati, Rajasthan, Mandi, Ropar, Indore, Madras and Hyderabad. IIT Kanpur and Bombay joined the online sessions.
The Council of IITs is worried about the quality of research. In the summit, the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) have decided to improve the quality of research at their institutions. A group of IITians across the country will now collect the details of their research and make it available through a common website for all the institutes. This website will be launched by the end of November.
Students have also discussed as how they could share research work of students of B Tech, M Tech and PhD students. Students are unaware about the past researches and they often repeat the older ones, so if the past researches are available online, then such repetitions can be avoided.
