SET 2016 eligibility criteria

Candidates appearing for Symbiosis Entrance Test 2016 (SET) can go through the eligibility criteria for the same on its official website. The online registration process for SET 2016 has alreday begun from February 5, 2016. The common written test is conducted for admission of engineering aspirants to various undergraduate programmes that are offered by Institutes of Symbiosis International University.

Aspirants appearing in SET 2016 can get enrolled into Symbiosis Institute of Technology (SIT), where courses like Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Information Technology, and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering are offered. Candidates can also take admission on the basis of their JEE Main scores. 

To appear in the exam, candidates need to fill in the registration forms. Incomplete forms shall be rejected – keeping this is mind, candidates must fill out their respective forms carefully. Before filling out the registration form, a candidate must check that he/she complies by the eligibility criteria.

SET 2016 eligibility criteria

The eligibility criteria for SET 2016 varies for Indian and International students, thus candidates must attain complete information on the same before filling the registration form. 

Indian candidates

• The candidate applying for SET 2016 should have passed 10+2 examination with Mathematics and Physics as compulsory subjects. Other subjects can be Biotechnology/ Chemistry/ Technical Vocational/ Biology.
• Marks should have been obtained as per AICTE norms.
• Candidates having a good score in JEE (Main) or Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) are eligible for the exam.

International candidates (Inclusive of NRI/PIO/Foreign Nationals)

• The candidate should have passed 10+2 examination with Mathematics and Physics as compulsory subjects along with any one of other subjects like Biotechnology/ Chemistry/ Technical Vocational/ Biology.
• The marks should be obtained as per AICTE norms. Appearing for entrance exam (SET/JEE-Main) in India is not important for the candidate.
• For International students, the eligibility criteria is followed as per Symbiosis Centre for International Education (SCIE) norms. 

Reservations

• Scheduled Caste: 15%
• Scheduled Tribe: 7.5%
• Differently able students: 3%
• Kashmiri migrants: 2 Seats
• International Students: 15%

SET 2016 exam centres

SET 2016 exam will be conducted in 19 cities across India. Candidates have the option of choosing their preferred city – the same will be allotted to them, subject to availability. The final details of the exam centre will be provided on the candidate’s admit card.
