Shiv Nadar Univ launches dual-degree programme with Carnegie Mellon Univ

The Shiv Nadar University (SNU), Greater Noida has launched a dual-degree programme in electrical and computer engineering, and mechanical engineering in partnership with Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), Pittsburgh USA.
Announcing the partnership, Nikhil Sinha, vice chancellor of SNU said, “Each year, more than 40,000 Indian students go overseas in search of global exposure and world class educational opportunities. This uniquely designed programme, which merges the best of SNU and CMU, is truly global in nature and will provide students an opportunity to acquire a world class education while also gaining unprecedented global experience.”
About the programme
This four-year undergraduate engineering degree programme, Carnegie Mellon Shiv Nadar programme, will award dual degrees to students – a Bachelor of Technology from SNU and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from CMU.
Launched as part of the SNU’s school of engineering and CMU’s college of engineering, the programme will commence in August 2013. Students will spend the first and third year at the SNU campus and the second and fourth year at CMU’s Pittsburgh Pennsylvania campus. Students will have the opportunity to undertake summer internships in both the US and India. The programme’s integrated curriculum will benefit students and the periods of study in India and the US will expose them to a unique bi-national experience that will prepare them to succeed in an increasingly globalized working environment.
Admissions to the program will commence in Spring 2013 (February 2013) and applicants will need to meet both SNU and CMU’s admissions criteria, including taking the SAT and TOEFL.
