TNEA 2014: Certificates required for counselling
Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions 2014 (TNEA 2014) will be done on the basis of marks scored by a candidate in their HSC/equivalent exam. TNEA is the means through which around 1.5 lakh engineering aspirants get themselves enrolled into engineering colleges of Tamil Nadu through a single window counselling process.

TNEA’s official website has listed out the format of certificates a candidate needs to enclose along with their applications on the official website of TNEA. Candidates can select the certificates which are relevant to them and enclose the same with their application forms. The certificates which need to be enclosed are:
Nativity Certificate: Candidates who are natives of Tamil Nadu but have not studied any of the standards such as VIII, IX, X, XI and XII or all of them from a school in Tamil Nadu need to furnish a Nativity Certificate with their TNEA 2014 application.
First Graduate tuition fee exemption: Candidates who are natives of Tamil Nadu and also the first member of their family to pursue a graduation course need to submit this certificate. Candidates who are first graduates in a family and are going to attend counselling to join professional courses in Government / Aided and Self-Financing Engineering Colleges (for Government quota) alone are eligible to apply for this fee exemption. However, if an applicant’s brother/sister have already availed this concession for pursuing professional courses then they would not be eligible for this concession.
Special Reservation: Candidates also need to furnish certificates if they fall under any of the below mentioned special reservations categories:
- Son / Daughter of ex-serviceman
- Son / Daughter of freedom fighters
- Medical certificate for orthopedically differently abled persons
- Medical certificate for hearing Impaired
- Medical certificate for visually impaired
