TNEA 2014: Important dates and selection procedure
Tamilnadu Engineering Admission Test (TNEA), conducted by Anna University, will soon release the official admission notification for 2014. Please note, the written entrance test has been scrapped. Read on to know more about the new selection process.
TNEA rank list will be used for admission to undergraduate programmes such as Bachelors of Engineering (BE) and Bachelors of Technology (BTech) in the state of Tamil Nadu. Admission to as many as 2.5 lakh seats in 535 engineering colleges in TN will be conducted through TNEA ranks, for the coming academic year.
To be eligible, candidates must have completed 10+2 with at least 50% in aggregate. Physics, Chemistry and Maths are the compulsory subjects in Class XII. Final year students can also apply. Marks of Class XI and XII will be taken in to account for shortlisting candidates and allot the seats.
TNEA 2014 counselling dates will be decided after consulting the Election Commission of India.

Selection Process
After normalising marks received across all boards, final merit list is based on the following factors:
- Percentage of marks in Mathematics
- Percentage of marks in Physics
- Percentage of marks in Chemistry
- Percentage of marks in the 4th optional subject
- Date of Birth (elder candidates are give preference)
Overall rank, community-wise and region-wise rank lists will be published.
