But for some professional courses the intake season may vary. As an application procedure the UK student visa authority charge some fee for the same. The UK has announced a sudden hike in the student visa fee and at the same time introduced a new category of ‘dependent relative' visa as a part of its effort to attract those migrants and visitors who can make a valuable contribution. The fee for the student's visa was hiked of 54 ponds, earlier it was 145 pounds. Besides this the dependent relative visa would be charged 1680 pounds. The increase fee got implemented from this 6th April, 2010.

The new visa category of dependent relative will allow the grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles and siblings over the age of 18 to join family members settled in the UK or being admitted for the purpose of settlement. The hike also takes into account the cost of processing visa applications. This steep change in the student visa fee may disappoint the aspiring students a bit. This will increase the burden on their pockets in the initial stage itself. But with this fee hike the new dependent relative visa is a good call for the students as they can take their dependent family with them.

Source: Manisha Verma (Team Shiksha)

Date: 8th April, 2010

For further details about related courses and colleges please click below:

Related courses and colleges
