VTU will now evaluate answer sheets using digital technology!
Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) has become the first university in Kerala to adopt digital technology to evaluate answer sheets. VTU had launched a pilot programme of evaluating answer sheets of MBA and MCA exams at Belgaum digitally, which has been extremely campus. Currently, the facility is
only available at the VTU main campus in Belgaum but it will soon be extended to its other three regional centers too, which are located in Bangalore, Mysore, and Gulbarga.
The facility will allow the evaluators to check the answer sheets from wherever they are, without having to travel across centers. To allow digital evaluation, a high-resolution scanner will be used to scan answer sheets, which then be e-mailed to the evaluators in different regional centers. The evaluators will check the digitized answer scripts online, through internet servers.
It will save time and hence, the results can be declared much earlier. Digital evaluation will also be more transparent, error-free, and efficient. Students, who apply for re-evaluation, will be able to access their answer scripts and will be e-mailed their evaluated digitized answer sheets.
VTU is one of the biggest technological universities in India. Currently, it is offering 28 undergraduate and 71 postgraduate and research programmes through 186 colleges affiliated to it. According to our sources, VTU is also planning to offer the facility of digital evaluation of answer scripts to all its affiliate colleges soon.
