Mumbai city houses some of the most competitive top law colleges in India and the state - MNLU and K C Law College with tighter seat allocations through CLAT and MHCET exams. But, the suburban parts also host many accessible options where law admissions are easier and have low to moderate fee ranges (INR 20K  to 5 Lakh) especially in private law colleges, including Dr D Y Patil School of Law, Jitendra Chauhan College of Law (JCCL), and Lords Universal College of Law. General Eligibility for Law Colleges in Mumbai (MMR)

For the five-year BA LLB, BBA LLB, or BLS LLB admissions in all Mumbai law colleges, the basic eligibility is to pass Class 12 boards with a min. of 45 to 60% aggregate marks from any stream. Additionally, one must obtain a valid score in the MHCET Law entrance exam or in any other institute that accepts candidates based on interview and/or written tests conducted by the law institute. These are similar to the guidelines for law colleges in India.  

For the three-year LLB programmes in all the law colleges in Mumbai, graduation is needed, with 50% marks, and qualifying marks in the MHCET Law exam or other entrance tests.

Government Law Colleges in Mumbai (All)

Government law colleges in MMR are concentrated in the city areas of Fort, Powai, and Churchgate. You have two options - MNLU and Mumbai University-affiliated law college like GLC. MNLU, located in Powai, is the stronger option with LLM specilisations in Maritime Law and Corporate and Criminal Laws with median salaries up to INR 14 LPA, alongside a BA LLB course. It's one of the top NLUs in India but there will be a higher MNLU CLAT cutoff. GLC and other MU-affiliated law colleges have the MHCET entrance where fees and cutoffs will vary.
