IIT Kharagpur’s VGSoM completes placements, Rs 29 lakh highest package

IIT Kharagpur's Vinod Gupta School of Management (VGSoM) has set a new benchmark with almost 33 per cent of its placement offers to be in the form of Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs). Apart from this, for the 2019-2020 academic year, it has become one of the first management schools to complete its final placements. To a VGSoM student, Rs 29 lakh per year is the highest package offered this placement season.

With a dominant share of 26 per cent, consulting is the most preferred domain among the MBA class of 2020. Apart from this, the other important branches are Finance, Analytics, Sales & Marketing and Operations with 12 per cent, 15 per cent, 17 per cent and 19 per cent of the offers respectively.

As far as the top recruiters are concerned, the placement season at IIT Kharagpur saw Vedanta, ICICI Bank, Axtria, Tiger Analytics, Wipro, IBM, IDFC First, Tata Power, ITC, Accenture Digital, Amazon, PwC, Deloitte, Blackbuck, ZS Associates, Titan, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and Oxane Partners, etc. Moreover, many new conglomerates took part in the campus placement drive including Cogoport, Media.net, Loadshare, Mahindra & Mahindra, McKinsey, Crompton, EPIKInDiFi, and Facebook.

Top 50 per cent of the students have secured an average placement of Rs 20.8 lakh per annum while the top 25 per cent of the students have got 23.2 lakh per annum. The School has recently tied up with Singapore Management University (SMU) to develop a broader view of management studies with constant upskilling through projects with companies like Lendingkart, GSK, Citibank, and DBS.
