MAT December 2014: Student reactions

MAT December 2014 written exam was conducted today i.e. December 7, 2014. The exam is conducted by AIMA for admissions to management and PGDM programmes in various B-Schools. The computer-based exam will be conducted from December 13 onwards.
According to some test takers, Data Interpretation section had high difficulty level as compared to MAT September 2014 exam. General Knowledge section, however, was moderate. Aspirants following the latest news could easily attempt this section. Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning sections were relatively easy. Shiksha.com talked to various MAT aspirants to know their reaction on MAT December 2014 exam. There were no new surprises and glitches in the exam and its proceedings as reported by aspirants.
βThe exam was pretty good. I have appeared for the MAT September 2014 as well. But this time Data Interpretation was a bit difficult for me. There was no difference between the two exams, except that the DI section was a bit difficult this time,β says Mahesh Kumar Kaura, a second time MAT aspirant.
According to another MAT aspirant Kriti Gupta, βThe exam was not difficult. It was on the lines of what I had expected. The Verbal Ability section was easy for me. Of all the sections, I think I gave my best in VA only. The exam went smoothly without any surprises or problems.β

For Mohit Pruthy, the exam was neither easy nor difficult. βThe general knowledge section was mostly based on the current affairs. One who reads the newspaper daily could score well in the section. For me GK and DI were a little difficult, while VA and LR were fine to me,β said Mohit.
Candidates had to attempt 200 questions in 150 minutes, i.e., two hours and thirty minutes. There are five sections in MAT exam: Language Comprehension, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, Mathematical Skills, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning, Indian and Global Environment. Each section has 40 questions with four multiple choices. For every right answer, one mark is awarded and for every wrong answer one-fourth (0.25) marks is deducted.
More than 600 top B-Schools and MBA colleges across the nation accepts the MAT score. Management Aptitude Test (MAT) takes place four times in a year - February, May, September, and December. The next MAT exam will be held in February 2015.
