As per the latest updates, the Covid-19 test RT-PCR's negative report is mandatory for students joining the government's medical colleges in Tamil Nadu including the dental and paramedical colleges scheduled to reopen on August 16.

Dr R Narayanababu, Directorate of Medical Education, has sent a circular to the college administration which states that students won't be allowed to attend the classes or stay in the colleges' hostels unless they will show a negative RT-PCR report. Those students, who haven't taken the Covid-19 test yet, can get tested at their respective institutions.

Any students with Covid-19 related symptoms will be quarantined and tested as per the standard protocols.

Colleges are going to follow all safety guidelines related to Covid-19. The colleges will install handwashing stations with sanitiser dispensers and liquid soap. The college administrators have been asked to properly sanitize all areas including college and hospital premises, classrooms, hostel, libraries, hostel mess and laboratories.

The state has extended the lockdown till 6 am on August 23 after reviewing the Covid-19 situation along with government and health experts officials. As per the latest guidelines, medical institutes of para-medical, nursing and allied health sciences will be allowed to reopen from August 16.
