2 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses arranged to vaccinate teachers before September 5: Edu Minister
The announcement came after the Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted that they are arranging an additional 2 crore COVID vaccine this month and states have been requested to try vaccinating all school teachers before September 5, which is celebrated as Teachers’ Day in the country.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Wednesday, i.e. August 25, 2021 said the government is planning to vaccinate school teachers ahead of Teacher’s day, i.e. September 5. The announcement came after the Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted that they are arranging an additional 2 crore COVID vaccine this month and states have been requested to try vaccinating all school teachers before September 5, which is celebrated as Teachers’ Day in the country.
Mandaviya wrote on Twitter: “In addition to the plan to provide vaccines to every state this month, more than 2 crore vaccine doses are being made available. We have requested all the states to try to vaccinate all school teachers on priority before Teachers' Day, which is celebrated on 5th September.”
Following the announcement, the education minister said “Along with securing our future generation against Corona, this will prove to be a decisive step towards removing the obstacles in their studies due to this pandemic. I also request all the state governments to give their support and cooperation to this campaign in order to strengthen the foundation of the future.”
The minister added, “To give priority in vaccination to teachers of all schools before the upcoming Teachers' Day, 5th September, I thank the Prime Minister for providing an additional 2 crore vaccines in addition to the vaccines received by the states every month. @narendramodi ji and mr @mansukhmandviya I express my heartfelt thanks.”
National Teachers Awards 2021
Meanwhile, President Ram Nath Kovind will felicitate 44 recipients of the National Teachers Awards 2021 on Teacher’s Day, i.e. September 5, 2021. On August 18, the education ministry released the list of the 44 teachers who would be awarded this year. The department commenced the registration process for this year’s awards on June 1 and the last day to register was July 10. Teachers were allowed to self-nominate themselves. However, the final selection was done by a jury through personal interaction. The constitution of the National Teachers Awards was done in order to celebrate the finest teachers of India, their excellent and unique contributions. Teachers who worked towards improving the quality of school education and enriched the lives of students are honored during this award ceremony.
