200 nursing colleges derecognised in MP, says medical education minister
Vishvas Sarang, Madhya Pradesh Medical Education Minister, said he would work to cleanse the medical education sector.
Madhya Pradesh government has cancelled recognition of around 200 nursing colleges in the state, as confirmed by Vishvas Sarang, the state Medical Education Minister. He also said that he would work to cleanse the medical education sector.
The action was taken after the government received multiple complaints of fraud and mismanagement and conducted an investigation on the order of Vishvas Sarang. They found the violation of rules by these nursing colleges.
The minister condemned the malpractices reported from nursing colleges in Madhya Pradesh and said he would ensure transparency in this field of education, as reported by the Free Press Journal.
"The middlemen working in medical education sector has led to the degradation of education in the state. In many cases, admission was given to students in a college but they received education in other colleges. Many nursing homes don’t have labs and expert teachers," said Sarang.
There will be no harm to nursing students, assures Vishvas Sarang
He said, "No fraud will be allowed in the field of education. Fake nursing colleges will not be allowed to operate."
Regarding the future of the nursing students, the minister said “if the colleges were genuine, where are the teachers and where are the students. There will be no harm to the students. We will not allow any student to be harmed. ‘Mafiagiri’ will not work in education,” as reported by Daily Pioneer.
In April 2022, mass cheating was reported in nursing course exams in the state where videos surfaced showing many first-semester nursing course students of three private colleges in Morena involved in cheating during the course exam. This year, Madhya Pradesh Nursing Council cancelled the affiliation of 14 nursing colleges in the Gwalior-Chambal region.
