50% teaching, non-teaching staff in Telangana to attend school from today
In view of the surge in COVID-19 cases, the state government has extended the holidays for all schools Until January 30, 2022.
Telangana School Education department has announced that teaching and non-teaching staff will be allowed to attend the schools physically on a rotational basis in 50 per cent capacity. Orders to this effect were issued by director, school education, A Sridevasena on Saturday.
In view of the surge in COVID-19 cases, the state government has extended the holidays for all schools Until January 30, 2022. Following this, the school department has now allowed online classes for class 8 to 10 students in all private, aided and government schools.
Several universities, including Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University- Hyderabad, have also issued orders on Saturday reiterating that all their affiliated and constituent colleges should not conduct any exams till January 30. There have been several cases of Covid being reported from universities.
Meanwhile, the State Minister for Education Sabitha Indra Reddy said that the educational institution will be reopened by January 31 unless there is a huge surge in coronavirus cases across the state. “Unlike last year, neither the exams will be canceled this year nor the students will be promoted,” the Minister said.
In view of the increasing number of COVID cases, the state government had declared Sankranti holidays to the schools from January 8 to 16. Later on, it was expected that the government would extend the holidays further and start online classes from January 17. The state government extended the holidays but it did not decide about the online classes. The government is facing flak from some quarters for extending holidays in the educational institutions.
“The holidays can only be extended further if there is a sharp increase in the number of Corona cases, otherwise the educational institution will be opened from January 31,” Reddy told.
