Kerala Schools Reopening 2022

Kerala School Reopening: After a gap of more than two years, schools in Kerala have fully reopened on June 1, 2022. The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic affted the functioning of schools in 2020 just like all over the country. Ensuring safety of students and staff members, the state government made all the necessary arrangements to give a warm welcome to the students.

Welcoming the reopening of schools in full swing in Kerala, the state Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated a Government High Secondary School at Kazhakootam. The minister also distributed sweets and gifts to younger students. The school reopening ceremony also witnessed the presence of various cabinet ministers of the Kerala government across various districts of the state.

Addressing the event, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan appreciated his government for handling challenges related to education due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Stating that the bad times are over, the minister added that now children will be able to rejoice as they will not only meet their friends but will also be able to interact with the outside world.

Kerala Education Minister V Sivankutty also informed that schools have made all the prior arrangements to ensure a safe, healthy, and secure environment for students in schools.

Ahead of school reopening, the Health Department also shared rules for schools and parents to follow that included strict usage of masks and student vaccinations.

CM Pinarayi Vijayan also talked about the increasing need of infrastructure and facilities with the increased number of students.

He stated that the state needs to be transformed into a knowledge society and that schools in Kerala should be made disabled-friendly so that no one is deprived of education.
