The PIB fact-checker has debunked this claim and clarified that all such announcements on another lockdown in India are bogus.
Press Information Bureau (PIB) fact-checker, the government fact-check, has refuted all the claims regarding announcements made by the government on another lockdown in the country in view of increasing cases of Covid-19 cases. According to the claim shared by various media houses, the government has announced the closure of schools and colleges for the next 15 days due to rising COVID-19 cases. The PIB fact-checker has debunked this claim and clarified that all such announcements on another lockdown in India are bogus.
PIB through it official Twitter handle stated, “Many news are being shared on social media claiming that due to #Covid19 there will be a lockdown in the country and schools/colleges will remain closed.”
“All these claims are bogus,” it added.
New 175 COVID-19 cases were recorded in India on January 2023 as the active caseload declined to 2,570, according to the Union Health Ministry. The active caseload declined by 12 in a day and now comprises 0.01 per cent of the total infections.
Meanwhile, various states are announcing closure of schools in view of the cold wave. In states including Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Delhi, etc. schools are closed for winter vacation.
