Arunachal Pradesh likely get second medical college
As per the reports, the centre has assured Arunachal Pradesh for setting second medical college in the Namsai district. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya gave the assurance to the state's Health and Family Welfare Minister Alo Libang.
Presently, the state has only one medical college Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) at Naharlagun, near Itanagar. Libang and his team also discussed about improving the medical infrastructure and medical services in the state and strengthening the medicines and medical equipment.
He also discussed the pandemic situation in Arunachal Pradesh and the strategies to deal with it.
The recent pandemic situation highlighted the need for more doctors in each state, particularly in the rural areas. Many states in India with the help of the central government are increasing their number of medical colleges. These states are - UP, where 9 more medical colleges are ready to function, West Bengal to get 6 new medical colleges, Andhra Pradesh is adding more 14 medical colleges, and now Arunachal Pradesh is also in the list of states that aim to increase the medical colleges and health facilities in their states.
