The Delhi government has decided to introduce the ‘Deshbhakti Curriculum’ in government schools. The Chief Minister of the National Capital Arvind Kejriwal while launching the AAP government's ambitious ''Deshbhakti Curriculum'' said that every child in Delhi will be a patriot in the true sense. The launch event was held at Chhatrasal Stadium on the birth anniversary of revolutionary freedom fighter Bhagat Singh. The CM said that nowadays people feel patriotic only while raising the Tricolour or singing the national anthem. But patriotism has to be a continually evolving feeling within everyone, he further added.

Talking about how there is a need to push the patriotism which is there within all of us already, the minister via his official Twitter handle said, “In the last 74 years, we taught Physics, Chemistry, Maths in our schools but did not teach patriotism to the children, I am happy that today Delhi Government has started this. Children will now be taught to love their country in all government schools in Delhi through the Patriotic Curriculum.” Check out the official tweet below:

The minister also talked about how the ''Deshbhakti Curriculum'' will prove to be instrumental in the country's development and will take India forward rapidly.  Raising the slogans ''Bharat Mata ki Jai'', ''Inquilab Zindabad'' and ''Vande Matram'', the chief minister said, "We need to develop an environment wherein we all and our children constantly feel patriotic at every step we take. Patriotism has to be a continually evolving feeling within all of us."

"It doesn't mean we won't promote professions. We will continue to support all kinds of education but we will add a touch of patriotic values to them. We will develop ''deshbhakt'' doctors, lawyers, engineers, actors, singers, artists, journalists and so on,” the minister added.

Commenting on the “Deshbhakti curriculum” Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said, “Under the Patriotic Course, every year every child will read about the sacrifice, contribution and passion made by 100 patriots towards the country.  Started with 100 freedom fighters this year, every year the stories of 100 patriots will be added to the curriculum in the next years.”

He further added, “There will be a special activity in the 45-minute patriotic class - 'Patriotic Meditation' of 5 minutes. In this, children will meditate towards Mother India while doing Mindfulness Meditation. Along with this, by remembering the five patriots every day, they will also express a sense of gratitude for their sacrifice, sacrifice and contribution.”
