Bengaluru: 31 school students test Covid positive

Bengaluru's Covid positivity rate has gone up from 2.69 per cent to 2.83 per cent. In the last 24 hours, the number of new Covid cases has increased to 582. Amid the rising Covid cases, around 31 school students have tested Covid positive. The state Health Department has asked schools and colleges to ensure precautionary measures, especially in Bengaluru.

Twenty-one students of the New Standard English School studying in Class 6, and 10 students of MES School studying in Class 5 have tested positive for Covid, as reported by Telangana Today.

The cases came to light during Covid vaccination when the symptomatic students were subjected to Covid tests. Both the schools have been sanitized.

Authorities directed to follow Covid appropriate behaviour

Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) authorities have quarantined the infected students to curb the further spread of the virus. They have also asked the schools to confirm whether the staff members of these schools have received two doses and a booster dose of vaccination.

BBMP's advisory says students, teachers, parents, and anyone entering the school premises must follow the Covid protocols including wearing masks and maintaining social distancing. Usage of sanitiser should be increased and schools must ensure that all their staff are vaccinated.

The advisory reads, "The school should make sure that all its staff is vaccinated and if there is any eligible member who is not vaccinated, arrange for them to be vaccinated."
