The Supreme Court directed the state boards to declare Class 12 results by July 31 based on internal assessments. It said that there cannot be a uniform criterion for evaluating students across boards and that each board was autonomous and free to formulate its own evaluation method for students.
The Court directed the state boards to ensure that the evaluation scheme is formulated at the earliest and not later than 10 days from June 24.
βWe direct the boards to ensure that the scheme is formulated at the earliest and not later than 10 days from today and also declare the internal assessment results by July 31, 2021, like the timeline specified for CBSE and CISCE,β the bench said in its order.
βThat be done expeditiously. In addition, the scheme must provide for a mechanism for redressal of grievance of students after the declaration of results as done by the CBSE and CISCE,β the bench said.
The top court also noted that the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) and many other state boards have cancelled the 12th board examinations and are formulating the scheme for assessment.
Students must watch this space to stay updated for the release of evaluation criteria by different states.
