Assam government has decided to abolish teaching nomenclatures ‘Graduate Teacher’ and ‘Post Graduate Teacher’ and all existing posts to be known as 'School Teacher'.
The decision was taken during a meeting of Chief Minister of Assam, Hemant Viswa Sarma with other officials of the Education Department to review various matters related to the education department.
As per the state government, CM reviewed various matters related to the education department with DEEOs and Inspectors of School of all the districts in the presence of Ranoj Pegu, education minister of the state with other officials where they took several important decisions.
Some important decisions taken during the meeting were the abolition of nomenclatures and PG will be a basic qualification for 'School Teacher'. The state government has also decided to form a committee to amend all rules related to the appointment of teachers.
It has been decided to complete the amalgamation and merger of schools within March 2022. “Timely completion of all under-construction of High Schools in tea gardens so that new school buildings could be inaugurated within April 2022,” mentions a statement by the Assam CM’s Twitter handle.
It has also been decided that 399 Tea Garden management run schools be provincialised.
