AHSEC has postponed the Class 11 exams in the state due to rising coronavirus cases. However, the final decision on Class 12th exams will be taken in the first week of May.
Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) has postponed the Assam Higher Secondary first year examinations due to the prevailing pandemic situation. The Class 11 exams were scheduled to begin on May 4.
It was expected that the board would also announce the postponement of Assam 12th exams 2021 however, AHSEC Chairman Dayananda Borgohain said that the decision on that will be taken by the first week of May. The Assam Board 12th exams are scheduled between May 11 and June 14, 2021.
“To ensure quality, we decided not to cancel the Class 11 exams like last year. If the situation allows, we may decide on the new dates. The examinations have only been postponed,” said Borgohain.
After CBSE postponed its Class 12th exams, AHSEC said that it will decide on the matter by May 5. “After the election process gets over by May 2, the new government may give some direction on conducting Class 12 state boards,” added Borgohain stating that the final exams for Class 12th will certainly be held.
The Assam HS exams 2021 were to be scheduled in February/March but in view of state elections, the schedule was reworked and the examinations were decided to be conducted from May 11.
The chairman said that the board is ready to conduct the examinations, provided the situation improves and that around 50 additional exam centres were added to maintain distancing in exam halls.
The new schedule for Assam HS first year will be announced later after the pandemic situation improves.
