CBSE usually declares the compartment result two to three weeks after the exam. In 2025, the exam was held on July 15 and the result came on August 1. As this year the exam was held on July 28, the CBSE 12th supplementary result 2026 is expected in the second week of August. The main CBSE Class 12 result 2026 was declared on May 13, 2026, with an overall pass percentage of 85.20 per cent.

Passing Marks and What Happens Next

Students need at least 33 per cent in each subject to clear the exam. Practical and internal assessment marks from the main board exam are carried forward and are not reassessed. The result published online is provisional. Students who clear the exam will get a revised marksheet with pass status, which colleges accept for admission. The original marksheet has to be collected from the school.

CBSE allows up to three attempts to clear a compartment subject. Students who do not clear the July 2026 attempt can appear as private candidates in the February-April 2027 board cycle for the failed subject. A third and final attempt follows in the July-August 2027 supplementary cycle. Those who do not clear it in three attempts are treated as Essential Repeat candidates.
