The latest development came after the release of an official statement by the ministry of tourism. The ministry of Tourism stated that the young ambassadors selected under the programme by the ministry will serve to promote tourism in India.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has directed schools affiliated with the Board to form Yuva Tourism Clubs. The instructions have been released as a part of the tourism ministry initiative to establish Yuva Tourism Clubs with the objective to nurture and develop young ambassadors of Indian tourism.
The latest development came after the release of an official statement by the ministry of tourism. The ministry of Tourism stated that the young ambassadors selected under the programme by the ministry will serve to promote tourism in India. The programme also aims at developing soft skills such as teamwork, management, and leadership and promoting responsible and sustainable tourism practices. The ministry also released a "Handbook for Schools for the conduct of Tourism Clubs" that lays out the operational strategies, guidelines and suggestions for the conduct of different activities under the programme.
Talking about the initiative, Union Tourism minister G Kishan Reddy said, "The Yuva Tourism clubs that are being set up in various schools will promote national integration and build on the Prime Minister's vision of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.”
According to the minister, under this programme students will also get awareness regarding the tourist destinations in India. It will eventually upskill them to promote the tourism sector. Schools have been asked to conduct activities such as excursions, online or e-tourism, pen pals in the paired state or union territory (UT), learning the language of the paired state or UT, having exposure to the diversity, natural resources and rich heritage of India.
