CBSE stated that students currently studying in classes VII, VIII, and IX will not be required to appear for board exam in a third language when they move to Class X. Board further mentioned those students in present batches of Classes VII, VIII and IX who have already opted for two foreign languages will be allowed to continue with same combination, along with one additional native Indian language as part of language learning framework. Under NEP, three-language policy encourages students to learn three languages, including at least two native Indian languages.
