The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted the Class 12 supplementary exam today, July 28, 2026, for students placed in the compartment category. Around 1.63 lakh students appeared for the exam following the CBSE Class 12 board results, which had recorded an overall pass percentage of 85.20 per cent. The exam was held in a single shift at centers nationwide. Most core subjects ran from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm, vocational subjects from 10:50 am to 1:30 pm, and select skill and elective subjects from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. CBSE barred mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, and other electronic devices inside exam halls, warning that any violation would invite action under its Unfair Means (UFM) rules.

When Will The Result Be Declared

The CBSE Class 12 Supplementary Result 2026 is expected in August 2026, a few weeks after the exam. Results will be published on the official CBSE result portals. Students who clear their compartment subject will receive an updated marksheet reflecting their pass status; practical and internal assessment marks already secured in the main exam are carried forward and not repeated.

What Happens If A Student Doesn't Clear

CBSE allows up to three attempts to clear a compartment subject. Students who don't clear the July attempt get a second chance in March or April of the following year, alongside the next main board cycle, and a third and final attempt in July or August of that same following year. Failing all three means the student is declared an "Essential Repeat" candidate and must reappear for all subjects in the next annual exam.
