CBSE conducts two English papers: English Core and English Elective. While both have language and literature skills, the elective paper generally includes more advanced literature section.

Students must score at least 33% marks in the theory exam to pass the CBSE Class 12 English board exam. Students have to separately pass in theory and internal assessment.

The CBSE Class 12 English Core (Code 301) paper is of 100 marks. The theory exam is for 80 marks, while the internal assessment is for 20 marks.  The paper will have three sections, i.e. Reading Skills, Creative Writing Skills, and Literature. 

Entry to the examination hall closes at 10 AM. However, students are advised to reach the exam hall at least by 9:45 AM to ensure the security checking is done right on time and they are seated at 10 AM on their respective seats. 

Students must carry their CBSE admit card and valid school ID to enter the examination centre. Further, a blue/ black ball point pen to write the exam is suggested to carry at the examination centre.
